If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I’ve just come back from a healthy 9 days away in one of south of Spain’s little treats, Malaga!

A few months ago I found an old Pentax film camera in the charity shop for about £6 which inspired me to start a new hobby. It’s been an interesting learning curve going from relying on a HD manual iPhone 6+ camera, I couldn’t stop looking at the back for the image when I first started using it then realised how much of a plonker I was to still think it was going to show me my picture! After a few films of practice I was ready for Màlaga! I knew the colours from the trees, sea and sky were were going to look beautiful on film. I couldn’t wait!

I took a lot of pictures on my iPhone but it’s not the same as using a manual camera. Having to think about lighting, angles and depth adds a whole new mechanical perspective to building your photo.

I spent 9 days between Màlaga and Gibraltar. Climbed up the mountain, swam in the sea, learnt to slack line, skated some rad spots, made some cool friends, chilled with monkeys and made some amazing memories. Here’s some photos from my three rolls of film I managed to fill up. I’m still learning so they’re not perfect yet.

Because I don’t have a scanner I’ve had to use my iPhone camera to take pictures of these, then crop and upload to my blog. People must think I’m mental, buying film, getting it developed, taking a picture of the photo to then upload it again! It took hours but was totally worth it.
