The Black Sheep

One of Manchester’s best skateboarding store‘s opens it’s doors to a new chapter in their journey to world domination! The new Black Sheep Store in Northern Quarter has to be one of the biggest skate store’s Manchester has ever seen. Catering for everyone from kids to the golden oldies, The Black Sheep know how to look after their customers and family, and after a quick tour round the new shop it’s not hard to see why they’re so loved.

Black Sheep Store

The new store is located in Manchester’s infamous Northern Quarter at 31 Dale St. under the red bricks of one of the cities many listed building’s. They really did start from scratch to create the premium, clean cut finished look we see in-store now. I popped in when they first got the keys and it was like a dark, mouldy, abandoned building site. The Black Sheep family worked hard for over 6 months to create a skateboarders heaven. I love all the little homely touches they have kept in the store from the nautical sailing ropes which ties in with The Poler Stuff brand, to the exposed red brick around the store paying homage to Manchester’s heritage and culture.

Black Sheep Store

I have a bit of love/history with The Black Sheep, after working with them for over a year meeting great people working in one of the funnest industries and turning colleagues and friends into family. If there’s one thing the Black Sheep do other than bring all the latest skateboarding goods, it’s look after their own and do their part to support the Manchester skateboarding scene. The 18 months I spent working with TBS was probably one of the best jobs I’ve ever had, contributing to my love for trainers, skating, fashion and working with some of the best knobheads I know, wouldn’t have changed anything. To pay homage to my time with The Black Sheep family, I decided to link up with my favourite photographer, CMTaylor Photography to give you an insight into what the new store holds…. Check out more of Calder’s photography skills below!
